Melanie Martin joined the Renaud Foster team in 2007. Under the mentorship of Tom Foster, Ms. Martin is responsible for Executive and Board Searches. Ms. Martin possesses a strong work ethic, a team-player attitude and is solution oriented. A natural people person, Ms. Martin enjoys the challenge of working for the client in finding great candidates and is happy to contribute to the success of all parties involved. Living in Ottawa since 1984, Ms. Martin is fluent in both official languages.

Prior to working at Renaud Foster, Ms. Martin founded her own business and was President for over 10 years. Her responsibilities included developing client and supplier relationships, managing client's projects, marketing and public relations, recruiting and managing staff as well as sub-contractors and lastly, overseeing the business financials. Since 1999, Ms. Martin has won awards for her work and in 2003, she and her company were selected to promote the Ottawa Entrepreneurship Centre. In 2004, Ms. Martin was a recipient of the prestigious Business Achievement Award, “40 Under Forty”.

Throughout her previous career, Ms. Martin was a sought after speaker. She has presented numerous seminars at various venues for TD Canada Trust, Chapters and DMG World Media and was a guest speaker at the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation's “Housing Outlook Conference” in 2000. She has appeared on local and national television and has been quoted and featured in local newspapers and magazines as an expert in her previous field of work. Ms. Martin has shared her knowledge by teaching at the Ottawa Board of Education and Algonquin College, as well as mentoring college and high school students.

Getting involved in her community is something that Ms. Martin does not shy away from. She currently is Treasurer for her condominium board and she has sat on the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Carleton Home Builder's Association and was Chair of the Home Show Committee in 1999 and 2000. Having a passion for the arts, Ms Martin was a member of the Organizing Committee for the Ottawa Art Gallery's Annual Art Auction in 2005-2006.

When she is not at work, Ms. Martin enjoys entertaining, cooking and wine tasting. She also likes to keep active by cycling, in-line and ice skating, kayaking, hiking, downhill and cross-country skiing and golfing. Other pastimes include attending performances at the National Art Centre, Centrepointe Theatre and The Great Canadian Theatre.
