Telefilm Canada is an independent Crown Corporation headquartered
in Montreal reporting to Parliament through the Minister of Canadian
Heritage which supports the creation of high-quality Canadian cultural
content which reflects Canada’s linguistic and regional diversity.
Dedicated to the development and promotion of a vibrant and growing
independent audiovisual industry in Canada, Telefilm Canada is a
client-oriented organization with over 200 employees and a presence
in 4 regional offices across Canada. Through its investment programs,
Telefilm Canada has emerged as a key catalyst throughout the entire
value chain of Canadian feature film and interactive media content,
from development to distribution to marketing. Its investments leverage
public and private sector financing at home and abroad and help
bring Canadian cultural products that reflect the diversity of Canada
to domestic and foreign audiences. Through its presence at national
and international business promotion events and festivals, Telefilm
Canada facilitates sales and financing for Canadian movies, television
programs and digital media. Telefilm Canada delivers nearly $400
million in programs for the audiovisual industry, of which approximately
$287 million is on behalf of the Canadian Television Fund. With
the advent of the Internet, changes to conventional financing models
and the migration of audiences from one platform to another, Telefilm

| SCOPE |

|
The Executive Director is accountable for providing strategic
guidance, oversight and leadership for the effective stewardship
of resources aimed at the development of the Canadian audiovisual
industries and in support of the government's policy agenda to increase
the competitiveness of Canadian products at home and abroad. |
|
| RESPONSIBILITIES |
 |
|
- Provides executive leadership and manages the Corporation in carrying
out its mandate in accordance with the Telefilm Canada Act and the
parameters established by the Board;
- Provides the corporate vision, realizes its strategic direction
and defines its long range priorities and strategies;
- Positions the organization to ensure that it meets the rapidly-evolving
audiovisual environment;
- Builds strong alliances with the Corporation's partners, government
organizations;
- Ensures that management of the Corporation's affairs, administration
of its funds and programs and the leadership of its employees, as
well as all decisions and positions taken by the Corporation are consistent
with government policies and practices; and
- Motivates the employees and mobilizes their energies towards common
shared goals;
- Directs the preparation and review of annual business plans and
budgets of the Corporation to provide the Corporation with the funds
necessary to support current operations, expansions, and other capital
requirements.
- Acts as Telefilm Canada's chief spokesperson in its dealings with
government authorities, the media, public and private sector partners,
stakeholders in the Canadian industry and other players outside Canada.

Experience:
- Demonstrated experience as a senior executive with strong
leadership qualities
- Proven ability and experience to manage a change process
and build effective, motivated teams
- An appreciation of the audio-visual sector, preferably in
film, television and digital media
- A sound understanding of the regulated bodies of this industry
would be a definite asset
- Experience in, or understanding of, government or policy-making
organizations
- Understanding of Conflict of Interest and Post-Employment
