RENAUD FOSTER NETWORK FOR EXECUTIVE WOMEN

The Renaud Foster Network for Executive Women is one of Canada's leading networks of executive women. Sponsored and managed by Renaud Foster Management Consultants, the network is designed to create a dynamic forum of and for senior women across the country. Since its establishment by Ms. Foster in 1990, the Network has grown to include over 300 women from the public sector, the not-for-profit sector, the diplomatic corps to the full range of private sector organizations (major multinationals to entrepreneurial firms). Pivotal to the network's vitality is the leadership of its founder and Executive Director, Lili-Ann Foster, coupled with the diversity and energy of its members, drawn from all employment sectors including less traditional fields.
Held monthly in a private club, each gathering achieves an informal setting where the members can maintain intimacy and a relaxed ambiance. It is an opportunity for all to meet and share ideas, experiences and questions on any subject that is opened for discussion by the group. Initially started as a breakfast, each event is a singular experience because there is no preset agenda or topics and no guest speaker. The group's conversation is facilitated by Ms. Foster, a well regarded public speaker and facilitator, so that each woman can contribute to a mutually rewarding and informative dialogue. Members have consistently praised the gatherings as a "useful and enjoyable forum" stating that it provides "fresh insights into the working world" and "opportunities to meet interesting accomplished women".
Each gathering also provides an opportunity for a non-executive woman to attend so that she may benefit from informal mentoring by the more experienced members. To maintain its intimacy, small groups of 8 to 12 women attend each function, based on a rotating guest list. To facilitate introductions and networking, each of the women attending is provided with a copy of the biographies of the other attendees.
The success of this network has consistently attracted such favourable attention, that Ms. Foster has been invited to lend her expertise in leading a new initiative – an alliance designed to establish linkages between established networks of executive women in Canada and the United States. Ms. Foster has also been recruited to participate as the only Canadian on the Directors' Resource Group, a committee of The International Alliance for Women (TIAW), a key network of executive women throughout the world. This committee's goal is to advance the role and the recruitment of women on boards throughout North America.
